Starting 2016 - 2024

Who Are the Performers?

Our performers are from around the world comprised of professional musicians, dancers, and/or local artists taken from the Texas Touring Roster with the Texas Commission on the Arts and Berklee Alumni Austin Chapter, impacting and building Austin’s live music Capital of the World, together stronger than ever! We select performers for our concerts to reflect the local culture and not just what is in the times.

What Is the Jazz Concert Series?

Formerly known as Beyond the Music, Project Arts Culture Concerts, which curated into our annual Austin Jazz Concert Series, featuring varied musical jazz acts to incorporate dance (tap, ballet, jazz) into each set, and displaying visual artists' work in a Artist Gallery we setup at each show. Throughout its history, each concert series has been inspired by our Founder, a professional Hispanic jazz singer under the stage name, Monique Daché curating holiday concerts, such as "Lady in Red" and "Silver Wonderland," and featuring her album debut, Life Is Magnificent, at our annual concert series, Monique Daché Austin Jazz Glitz & Glam Concert. Our Founder's passion for jazz and dedication to artistic expression have been the driving forces behind the series' success, showcasing a diverse range of talent and engaging the community through the power of music.

Our concerts bring together musicians, dancers, and visual artists in a multidisciplinary concert advocating for the Arts for youth at an early age as important, relevant, and essential. We seek to engage Austin residents and tourists through this Arts enriched concert series, selecting professional musicians and creatives through the Texas Commission on the Arts Texas Touring Roster. As part of the Austin jazz concert series opening act to each concert the performance opens with “Amplifying Voices of Tomorrow,” featuring talented youth (3rd-12th grades) performing originals and covers who participate in our Artistic Vocal Performance & Strings Ensemble.

Our Artistic Education Company will host a series of concerts in 2026. These events will honor the musicians, dancers, and visual artists who have contributed to our concert series over the years and who are doing incredible work in Austin, TX with their craft and music.

We work tirelessly to keep our concerts affordable to the general public and free of charge.

2008 ELEPHANT ROOM — Masumi Jones

Masumi Jones

"I remember when I was three years old, I asked my mother to get me a keyboard so I could start taking piano lessons. I was too lazy to practice, but my mother said if I quit piano, I would end up regretting it. I stuck with it until I was 15, and now I do regret that I ever stopped playing piano... When I entered middle school, I joined the school wind ensemble as a clarinet player. I wanted to be a harpist, but there were no opportunities to study harp around my hometown of Fukuyama, a small city in Hiroshima prefecture... When I was 14, I wanted to play in a rockabilly pop band with some of my friends. I got picked to play drums somehow, and I went to try out a group drum lesson with my drummer friend. I could play drums much better than anyone there, and my friend soon quit playing drums. I started to play in a Japanese punk cover band and a pop rock cover band."

Soul Wagon

"Soul Wagon carries on the soulful and swingin' styles of the enormous collection of music called jazz. Leading the band on piano, Benito stays true to the enduring melodies showing respect to the composers of these great American songs. The band also digs deep into simpler blues forms driven by groove, soul, and raw energy.

. . . The perfect blend of old-school and new-school."
